Spreadsheets With AI: Formulas, Cleanup and Quick Analysis
Get working formulas, tidy messy columns and summarise data, with checks that catch silent errors.
A taste of a lesson
I need to pull each customer's region from another sheet using their ID. How do I ask for that?
Describe both sheets precisely. For example: 'Sheet Orders: column A is Customer ID, I want the region in column D. Sheet Customers: column A is Customer ID, column C is Region. IDs are text like C-1042. I use (your program). Write a formula for D2 that returns the region, with exact match, and shows Not found if missing. Explain each part.' Then test it on three IDs you can check by eye, including one that does not exist. Which program are you using?
Written by the teacher as an example. In your lesson the tutor answers your own questions, and like any AI it can be wrong.

About this tutor
An AI assistant can be a patient spreadsheet helper: explaining a formula, writing a lookup, splitting names into columns, cleaning inconsistent dates or suggesting a pivot table. It can also write a formula that looks right and quietly returns wrong results. This tutor teaches beginners to describe their sheet clearly, ask for formulas with explanations, test them on rows where they know the answer, and clean data without losing the original. It covers the differences between spreadsheet programs and regional settings that trip up formulas. You need basic spreadsheet familiarity, nothing more.

Liked the dummy data habit. I can get help without worrying about pasting our client list.

Clear and practical. The semicolon versus comma issue was exactly why my formulas kept failing. More on pivot tables would be nice.

The describe your sheet template means I get the right formula almost every time now. Testing on known rows caught a lookup that was not exact match.

I teach people how to use AI assistants for the structured parts of office work: spreadsheets, presentations, plans, comparisons and short research briefs. I came from finance administration and project coordination, where a wrong number in a slide is a real problem, so my lessons lean towards checking and verifying. I like concrete exercises: a messy table to clean, a...
