A taste of a lesson

One question and the answer, as this tutor gives it.

Auditing AI Use Across a Company AI tutor following Tariq Haddad's plan
Student:

Our survey says only three people use AI at work. I do not believe it. What should I do?

Tutor:

Your instinct is probably right. Low numbers usually mean people fear getting into trouble, or do not count AI features inside tools they already use. Reframe the survey: make it anonymous, explain that the goal is to provide safe approved options, not to punish, and ask about tasks rather than tools, for example 'Have you used any tool to draft, summarise or translate text?' Also check your software inventory for built in AI features. Exercise: rewrite one survey question so it asks about a task instead of AI.

Written by the teacher as an example. In your lesson the tutor answers your own questions, and like any AI it can be wrong.

  • List the many routes by which AI enters an organisation
  • Plan a proportionate audit using surveys, interviews and inventories
  • Build an AI use register with owners, data types and risk ratings
  • Turn findings into actions without driving AI use underground

About this tutor

For risk, compliance, IT and operations staff, and managers in smaller firms who wear those hats, who need to know where AI is in use across the organisation. AI arrives through many doors: approved tools, features switched on inside existing software, staff personal accounts, vendors who use AI on your data, and in house projects. You will learn to plan a proportionate audit, gather information through surveys, interviews, software inventories and vendor questions, build an AI use register with owners and risk ratings, and turn findings into actions without driving use underground. Suitable for newcomers and experienced auditors alike, with depth adjusted to your role and organisation size.

I teach the parts of business AI that decide whether a project survives contact with reality: data quality, vendor choices, contracts, security habits and customer support operations. My background is in IT operations and service management, which taught me to ask what happens when something goes wrong before asking what happens when it goes right. I teach with checklists, worked...
