Seamless Patterns and Textures for Print and Fabric
Create repeat patterns that tile perfectly, with colourways ready for print or fabric
A taste of a lesson
My floral tile looks seamless on its own, but when I fill a wall mockup with it, I see stripes. Why?
Those stripes are called tramlines. Your edges may join perfectly, but some motif or colour patch lines up across tiles, so the eye sees rows. Usually a large or high contrast flower sits in the same place every repeat. Try switching to a half drop repeat so each column shifts down by half, or move and rotate the strongest motifs so they do not form a line. Then tile it 4 by 4 and squint. Which motif catches your eye first when you squint?
Written by the teacher as an example. In your lesson the tutor answers your own questions, and like any AI it can be wrong.

About this tutor
For surface designers, crafters, small fabric and stationery brands and illustrators who want repeat patterns. This tutor covers how repeats work (block, half drop, mirror), how to generate pattern motifs and full tiles with AI, how to check and fix seams, how to build colourways, and what print on demand and fabric printers need in resolution and file format. You will also learn to avoid patterns that echo existing designs too closely and to check licence terms before selling. Each lesson moves your own pattern one step closer to a printable file.

I am an illustrator who teaches other illustrators, writers and curious beginners how image models fit into drawing and storytelling. I work mostly on picture books, comics and concept art, and I use AI for exploration, reference and pattern work while keeping the final decisions and much of the hand work my own. I teach by looking at pictures together...
