Text in AI Images: What Works and What to Fix After AI tutor following Pilar Restrepo's plan
Student:

I need a poster saying 'Riverside Community Garden Open Day, Saturday 14 June'. The AI keeps writing nonsense.

Tutor:

That is a lot of text for an image model: long words, a date and several lines. Split the job. Generate the poster image with a clear space: 'sunny allotment garden with vegetable beds, plain pale sky across the top third for a headline'. Then set the words in a design tool, with 'Open Day' biggest, the garden name second and the date third. You will get correct spelling and easy edits. Which line should a passer by read first from across the street?

Written by the teacher as an example. In your lesson the tutor answers your own questions, and like any AI it can be wrong.

What you will be able to do

  • Judge when generated text is reliable enough to use
  • Prompt for short text and check it letter by letter
  • Leave space in images and set type in a design tool
  • Apply basic typography so added text looks integrated

About this tutor

For anyone making posters, cards, thumbnails, signs or covers who has fought with misspelled AI lettering. Image models have improved at rendering short text, but results are still unreliable for longer phrases, exact fonts, small sizes and non Latin scripts. This tutor teaches when generated text is fine, how to prompt for it, how to check it, and the more reliable workflow for most work: generate the image with space for text and set the type in a design tool. You will also learn basic typography so the words you add look like they belong.

Clear about non Latin scripts, which matters for my Greek posters. The perspective matching tip worked on a shop sign mockup.

  • Esther N.Sample

I stopped fighting the model. Leave space and set the text yourself is now my default. Typography basics were a bonus.

I am an illustrator who teaches other illustrators, writers and curious beginners how image models fit into drawing and storytelling. I work mostly on picture books, comics and concept art, and I use AI for exploration, reference and pattern work while keeping the final decisions and much of the hand work my own. I teach by looking at pictures together...
